Old Dunstonian Association

The Old Dunstonian Association was founded in 1897 with the aim of providing a focus for those who had left St Dunstan’s College in Catford but wished to stay in touch – both socially and for sporting activities. As then, the Association and its Clubs still share with the College the aims of:

  • Ensuring strong links between ODs and the College, with the Association as a focus for OD clubs and activities
  • Maintaining the OD’s Clubhouse & Ground at Park Langley as a meeting place for all generations of ODs, both on and off the sports field.
WORLDWIDE

The ODA is not just a local club but a worldwide organisation promoting OD activities of all kinds, with more than 3,750 members, many of whom live outside the Home Counties or overseas.

The key elements linking all Dunstonians are this website and OD Notes, published each year in Spring and Autumn. The website is aimed at carrying readily accessible, up-to-date information on all OD activities. OD Notes gives a comprehensive review of sporting and social activities as well as news of individuals’ careers and voluntary pursuits.

THE COLLEGE

The Association contributes to the St Dunstan's College Prize list and makes an annual grant to the College Benevolent Fund. The Leslie Morris Exhibition Fund was set up on the initiative of the Association and there is also a scheme under which OD Bursaries are awarded.

Apart from these, more visible, ties with the College, many other links have been forged over the years. Every generation of College staff has had its quota of ODs who have returned to teach and also played their role in running the Association and individual OD Clubs. In addition, ODs regularly contribute to the College’s careers guidance activities.

A VIEW FROM THE COLLEGE

Since becoming Headmistress in September 2005 it has been a great pleasure for me to get to know members of the Old Dunstonian Association. I have thoroughly enjoyed attending the regional lunches with my husband, David, enjoying a warm welcome and meeting many great personalities. I am delighted to see how many Old Dunstonians still have such a strong affection and regard for their old school.

It has been clear to me since I joined St Dunstan’s that the Association plays an important role in College life. It is a wonderful network of friends and contacts and I appreciate being a part of it.

I have always found Old Dunstonians to be generous with their time in support of the College. I would like to thank all of you who provide career guidance for our students, support our events and promote the College by word and deed. The goodwill extended to St Dunstan’s by the Old Dunstonian Association is invaluable.

Each year our school leavers are eager to join this exclusive club of distinctive and interesting people. They recognise how important the Old Dunstonian Association is in maintaining friendships for life.

The College has traditionally maintained close links with the Old Dunstonian Association and I hope to keep the bonds as strong as ever. If you would like to return to the College and join us at one of our many functions, be it the Carol Service, a drama production, or a music concert, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. You will be very welcome.

Mrs Jane Davies
Headmistress, St Dunstan’s College
